7:30pm- 8:15pm Beginners Solo Dance class
8:30pm – 9:30pm Beginners Partner Dance class
Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and more
This dance class will be without partners. The focus will be mainly on Latin American dances from both dance sport and social dancing with other suitable solo dances will be included if appropriate. This class will develop dance technique in all the dances covered and will use the majority of the same dance figures used in partner dancing. The skills and technique taught in this session can also be directly transferable to dancing with a partner.
This is a great class for exercise, without the intensity as an aerobics, zumba or dance fitness class. This is because time will be spent breaking down and developing the technique of steps. The main focus of this class is the enjoyment in learning and developing technique rather than just dancing to break into a `sweat`.
Under the current coronavirus guidance, the partner dance class will mainly cover Latin American dances. It will also cover other none-progressive “stationary” partner dances, which don’t travel around the room like in Ballroom dancing. This is to ensure social distancing is maintained between couples.
Latin American dancing includes a variety of different dance styles and rhythms that show many varied personalities and cultures. Some of these dances can wildly differ between the tempo of the dance, the mood, technique and expression in the movements of the dance. Naturally this will mean people have preferences on what dance is their favourite and we would like anyone joining to let us know the dances (Latin or other dances) you would like us to cover in these sessions.
Details on how the class will operate under current covid-19 guidelines will be provided to those enquiring to join and pre-book the session.
